Their teachers have been recognized for their excellence in subjects like English and Humanities, and all of them stand behind their Mission Statement: “Develop Deer Creek’s community of learners as self-confident, creative problem solvers, skillful communicators, productive team workers, capable of accessing and processing information in a lifelong pursuit of excellence.” Both Deer Creek Elementary and Prairie Vale Elementary Schools earned a perfect 1500 (the highest possible score) on the Academic Performance Index (API), based on achievement tests and daily attendance mandated by the "No Child Left Behind Act." The API measures school performance and improvement. This achievement is the result of collaborative efforts by parents, students, teachers, and district administrators. Deer Creek Elementary was also the only school in the U.S. receive the “National Take Pride in America” award, for their innovative outdoor classroom. School age children living in some parts of West Oklahoma City are welcome to attend schools in Deer Creek and Edmund. Below is a list of Deer Creek Schools: Deer Creek High School Oklahoma City Public Schools has been joined by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation to “help develop and implement a shared vision of educational excellence; and to research, create and implement programs and initiatives to improve the quality of education for all students in Oklahoma City Public Schools.” By helping to secure a 10-year, $530 million grant, the OC Public School System and the Foundation are partnering to ensure the highest quality of education for our kids. The OC Chamber of Commerce has jumped onto the educational bandwagon by helping to link the corporate community with the public school system, providing resources, tutoring, and mentorship for the city's children. The Foundation's goal is to see 10,000 tutors in place by 2007. Edmond Public School System has the distinction of being recognized by Newsweek for having 3 of the top high schools in America. (The state of Oklahoma was proud to show 5 more high schools in the top 5%, for a state total of 8 schools out of more than 27,000 evaluated.) With almost 1,100 teachers and 1,200 other professional and support staff, the School System is the largest employer in Edmond. Below are Edmund's schools: Edmond Elementary Schools
